Taste of the North East at Hampton Court

I went to the North East Roadshow, which is held annually and organised by Steve Reed, at Hampton Court recently.

Designed to show some of the delights of the North East to group organisers, the Roadshow takes place at a different venue each year. Two years ago it was at the Tate Liverpool, and last year at Kensington Palace.

This year, the venue was Hampton Court, with a room hired for the occasion.

I was able to talk to old friends including Tom Keating, Steve Reed and Jan Williams, and to people representing such places as Durham, Hadrian`s Wall and Hartlepool.

Another nice touch, apart from the canapes, was the man playing Northumbrian pipes in the background.

Afterwards, I was able to have a brief tour around the magnificent Hampton Court Palace, built by Cardinal Wolsey but taken over after his fall from grace by Henry VIII.
