Magdalen Bridge (Oxford)

Magdalen Bridge is a historic bridge in the historic university city of Oxford.

It takes traffic from The High away from the old core of Oxford, crossing the River Cherwell just past Magdalen College and the Botanic Garden.

The first bridge here, a wooden structure, was erected in 1004. This was replaced by a stone structure in the 16th century, and by a drawbridge in the Civil War.

The present Magdalen Bridge dates from 1772.
