Flamborough Head Lighthouse (Flamborough Head)

Flamborough Head Lighthouse stands on the Yorkshire headland known as Flamborough Head, whose chalk cliffs rise to 400 feet above the North Sea.

There had been a beacon here, to aid shipping, for centuries until a lighthouse was constructed.

The first lighthouse here, built in 1674, still stands. It is made of chalk and is octagonal.

The present lighthouse dates from 1806.
