Flamborough Head

Flamborough Head is a spectacular headland on the Yorkshire coast, 5 miles from Bridlington. It has steep chalk cliffs, rising to 400 feet above the sea.

The first lighhouse was built on the headland on the 17th century. It is octagonal and made of chalk. The present structure dates from 1806.

In the neighbouring village of Flamborough, schoolchildren still dance the traditional Flamborough sword dance, with wooden swords.
