Viking Ship (Cliffsend)

The Viking Ship is an unusual sight on the cliffs above Pegwell Bay at Cliffsend on the Isle of Thanet in Kent.

The Viking Ship is the local name for the full size replica of a longboat, actually named the Hugin, which was sailed across from Denmark in 1949, to mark the 1500th anniversary of the traditional date of the landiong of Hengist and Horsa at nearby Ebbsfleet.

It stands on a lawn, much used as a picnic site.
