Bala (Penybont) Station (Bala)

Bala (Penybont) Station is the railway station serving the small Welsh town of Bala.

It is the terminus of the steam hauled Bala Lake Railway, popular with holidaymakers in the area.

Trains run on a narrow gauge line, on the trackbed of a standard gauge line which ran from 1868 to 1965.

The line runs for 4 miles beside the lake, to Llangower and Llanuwchllyn.

The original line continued to Dolgellau, Arthog and Barmouth.

It linked with a line that ran Westwards from Bala to Blaenau Ffestiniog, Betws-y-Coed and Llandudno, and Eastwards to Corwen, Denbigh and Rhyl.
