Stisted

Stisted is a little village in Essex, 3 miles from Braintree, with an attractive village street.

The first part is pronounced "sty", to rhyme with "fly".

The village lies on the quiet road that runs between Greenstead Green and Bradwell-juxta-Coggeshall.

All Saints Church dates from the Norman period, but was restored in 1844. It has a tower and a shingle spire.

Stisted Hall was built in 1823.

The Poet Laureate Andrew Motion spent his childhood at Stisted.
