Shackerstone

Shackerstone is a village in Leicestershire, 3 miles from Market Bosworth, and on the Ashby Canal.

St. Peter`s Church has a sturdy mediaeval tower, but the rest was largely rebuilt in the mid 19th century.

Shackerstone Station is the present terminus of the preserved Battlefield Line. Edward VII used the station when visiting nearby Gopsall Hall.

There was a Norman castle at Shackerstone, and the motte survives.
