Basildon

Basildon is a New Town in Essex, 6 miles from Brentwood.

Originally a tiny village, it has been transformed since the 1950s into one of the county`s largest towns.

Sir Basil Spence was consultant architect to the project, which consisted of ten neighbourhoods and a town centre.

Holy Cross Church is the old village church, and dates back to the 14th century.

The former towns of Billericay, Laindon, Pitsea and Wickford are now part of Basildon.

The entertainer Denise van Outen was born at Basildon.

Blue Badge Guide Colin Crosby is available to lead Guided Walks around Basildon for groups.
