Derbyshire Tour (A Coach Trip in Derbyshire)

"Derbyshire Tour" is one of the many Coach Trips devised and led by Blue Badge Guide Colin Crosby, of Colin Crosby Heritage Tours.

These excursions are a very enjoyable way of soaking up some Local History.

This is a tour around the county of Derbyshire, best known for its mountainous upland country known as the Peak District, but with a good number of attractive small towns.

The coach leaves St. Margarets Bus Station in Leicester City Centre at 8am, and is due back around 9pm.

Colin gives his customary commentary along the way, pointing out places of interest and interpreting their background and heritage in a way which makes his trips quite unique.

There are three stops along the way, each of about an hour.

Ashbourne is a delightful market town with an impressive parish church. It has for many years been famous for gingerbread, and is klnown as the gateway to Dovedale.

Buxton is believed to be the highest market town in England, and is also a famous spa town, where you can sample the water direct from a spring.

Bakewell is another very attractive market town. It has an outstanding parish church with two Anglo-Saxon crosses in the churchyard. Most visitors make sure they buy a Bakewell pudding to take home.

There is an additional short stop, at the Visitor Centre on the shores of Carsington Water, and the tour features both gentle rivers and rugged upland scenery.
