Countess of Huntingdon`s Hall (Worcester)

The Countess of Huntingdon`s Hall is one of the best loved buildings in the cathedral city of Worcester.

The Countess of Huntingdon, who lived at Ashby-de-la-Zouch, built a number of chapels around the country in a bid to bring Methodism to the upper classes. In this she was helped by the charismatic preacher George Whitefield.

The chapel was built in 1815, but had been allowed to decay.

It has, however, been excellently restored and now stands in the busy shopping centre, used as an arts centre incorporating a concert hall.

Its elegant interior retains many of the original furnishings.
