Whitby Station (Whitby)

Whitby Station is the railway station that serves the historic seaport and seaside resort of Whitby in Yorkshire.

It is well situated, beside the hustle of the waterside and the town centre.

The station was built by G. T. Andrews in 1846.

Trains reach Whitby, the terminus, along the branch line from Middlesbrough, via Marton, Great Ayton and Grosmont.

There is now a facility for the steam trains on the North Yorkshire Moors Railway to reach Whitby from Pickering and Goathland, joining the other line at Grosmont.

There was once another line which ran along the coast, running Northwards to Staithes, Loftus and Redcar, and Southwards to Robin Hood's Bay, Ravenscar and Scarborough.
