St. Cuthbert`s Church (Wells)

St. Cuthbert`s Church is the parish church of the little cathedral city of Wells in Somerset.

It is situated in Priest`s Row, at the other end of the High Street from Wells Cathedral and the Market Place.

Although clearly overshadowed by the wonderful cathedral, it is nevertheless the largest parish church in the county.

The fourth church to be built on the site, the present building dates from the 15th century, replacing a wooden Saxon church, and others built in the 11th and 13th centuries, of which parts remain.

Among the notable features of St. Cuthbert`s are an 11th century piscina, an enormous mediaeval door and a Jacobean pulpit.
