Our Lady and St. Nicholas Church (Wanlip)

Our Lady and St. Nicholas is the parish church of Wanlip, near Birstall in Leicestershire.

It is largely hidden amongst trees, and can be reached along Church Road.

The unbuttressed West tower dates from the 14th century, and much of the rest of the church dates from the same period.

There is a brass to Sir Thomas Walsh, who died in 1393, and his wife, who, the inscription says "made the kirke of Anlepe". It is the oldest inscription in English on any brass.

In the churchyard is buried a young African man who was a servant at Wanlip Hall.
