Union Workhouse (Ripon)
The Union Workhouse is a historic building in Ripon.
It is situated in Allhallowgate.
There are few of these workhouses surviving, from the days when to be poor led to living in sparse conditions.
This building replaced an earlier and even grimmer one in 1855.
In 1877 a new vagrants` wing was added, and it is this which is now a museum.
