St. Marys Church (Queniborough)

St. Mary's is the parish church of the Leicestershire village of Queniborough, close to Syston.

It is well-known for its superb needle spire, which has few equals.

The tower is made of the local Mountsorrel granite, and the spire is of the parapet type.

The chancel dates from the Norman period, and there is 13th century arcading, and 14th century aisles.

There is an unusual monument to Margaret Bury, who died in 1633, in which Margaret's head rests on a block reading "Jacob's Stone" and "Christ".
