HMS Victory (Portsmouth)

H. M. S. Victory is one of the world's most famous ships, and it can be seen in the England's major maritime city, Portsmouth.

The Victory was Admiral Nelson's flagship, on which he lost his life while winning the Battle of Trafalgar in 1805.

Nelson spent his last night on land in the High Street at Portsmouth, before joining the victory for his last voyage.

The Victory has been painstakingly and lovingly restored to its original condition, and can now be visited in the Royal Dockyard.

Visitors are able to walk through the ship, and see for themselves the cramped and uncomfortable conditions in which the men lived and fought.

Th Admiral's cabin has also been restored, and the spot is marked where Nelson was fatally wounded.

Two other famous ships, the Mary Rose and Warrior, can also be seen nearby.
