Walkers Stadium (Leicester)

[An image showing Walkers Stadium]The Walkers Stadium is Leicester City Football Club's ground.

It is a striking building beside the River Soar and one of the finest structures built in Leicester so far this century.

It is situated in Raw Dykes Road, off Aylestone Road, one of the major routes leading Southward from the City Centre towards Lutterworth and Rugby. Aylestone Road is the A426.

Leicester City played at Filbert Street for over a century until the new ground was built. It is named after one of the club's major sponsors, the Leicester-based Walkers Crisps.

In Gallowtree Gate, the Sporting Success Statue celebrates the achievements of Leicester's football, cricket and Rugby teams, who each won a major trophy in 1996.
