South Gate (Kings Lynn)

The South Gate is one of the many impressive buildings in the old maritime town of Kings Lynn in Norfolk.

Kings Lynn, formerly known as Bishops Lynn, was surrounded by its own Town Wall, of which some remains exist in The Walks, a pleasant park in which can be found the Red Mount Chapel.

The South Gate dates from 1437.

It stands some way from the historic houses in the town centre, on the edge of town today, as it always was.
