Grandma Giles Statue (Ipswich)

The Grandma Giles Statue is a much loved feature of the Suffolk town of Ipswich.

The statue is situated at the junction of Princes Street and Queen Street, outside the Buttermarket Shopping Centre in the centre of the town.

Grandma Giles was a character in the series of cartoons created by Carl Giles of the Daily Express, who lived in Ipswich.

Grandma is depicted in her usual pose, with overcoat, scarf, hat, umbrella and padlocked handbag.

Carl Giles worked for many years in an office overlooking where the statue now stands.
