Underground Passages (Exeter)

The Underground Passages are an unusual but popular tourist attraction in the historic cathedral city of Exeter.

The entrance is in an alley off the High Street.

The passages are mediaeval, and were a way of piping fresh water into the middle of the city, through a network of vaulted underground conduts.

The system is now dry and can be explored with a local guide.
