Epping Station (Epping)

Epping Station serves the small Essex town of Epping, on the edge of Epping Forest.

The station was originally on a line operated by the Great Eastern Railway and opened in 1865.

However, in 1949 this became part of the London Underground system as the Eastern extremity of the Central Line.

A line from Epping to Chipping Ongar functioned as a detached part of the Central Line, but was closed in the 1990s, since when it has been privately operated as a heritage railway.
