Jubilee Gardens (Ely)

Jubilee Gardens are a relatively new feature of the delightful little cathedral city of Ely.

At the turn of the Millennium, the site in Broad Street was earmarked for housing, but this was not universally populr with Ely residents.

Tony Robinson and TV's "Time Team" were invited to Ely, and undertook an interesting investigation.

Afterwards, the site was converted into gardens, which were opened in 2002, the Queen's Golden Jubilee year, by her husband, the Duke of Edinburgh, as Jubilee Gardens.

It forms a pleasant walkway between Cherry Hill, the park alongside Ely Cathedral, and the lovely waterside area beside the River Great Ouse.
