St. Anne`s Church (Dishley)

St. Anne`s was the parish church of the now deserted Leicestershire village of Dishley.

The church itself, hidden from the main road by trees, is now in ruins, having been replaced in 1845 by All Saints Church, Thorpe Acre.

St. Anne`s dates back to about 1200, and has a North door from this period.

The nave and chancel are in one, and it once had a West tower.

Robert Bakewell, the agricultural pioneer who was born at Dishley, died in 1795 and is buried at the church.
