Southfields (Dedham)

Southfields is a fascinating mediaeval house in the little Essex town of Dedham.

It is situated 300 yards outside the town, and can be approached by a lane from the High Street.

It is a timber framed and gabled building arranged around a central courtyard, approached by a carriageway in the centre of the North wall.

Southfields was the home and the factory of a prosperous weaver in the Tudor period, and was built about 1500.
