Guildhall (Chichester)

The Guildhall in the lovely cathedral city of Chichester in Sussex is now used as a museum of local history.

It can be found, by itself, in the middle of Priory Park, which is bordered by the City Walls.

The building, dating from the 13th century, was originally the chancel of the monastic church of the Franciscan Friary, home of the Grey Friars.

The Guildhall, when in use as an Assize Court, was the scene of the trial of William Blake in 1804 for sedition, after he had ordered a soldier to get out of his garden at Felpham.
