Revolution House (Chesterfield)

Revolution House is a cottage at Old Whittington, just outside Chesterfield.

It was here in 1688 that a group of men took shelter from the rain, while they were out hunting.

They were the Earl of Danby, the Earl of Devonshire and John D`Arcy, and they had come together to plan the overthrow of James II and the invitation to William of Orange to be king. They thus initiated what became known as the Glorious Revolution.
