St. John`s Church (Bristol)

St. John`s Church is one of the fascinating churches in the old city of Bristol.

It is set, with its West tower and spire, over St. John`s Gate, the only on of the city`s gates still standing, with a length of the old wall.

The church is early Perpendicular, and the chancel contains the tomb of its benefactor Walter Frampton, who died in 1388. The reredos dates from the Tudor period.

St. John`s is in the care of the Churches Conservation Trust.
