St. John the Evangelist Church (Bath)

St. John the Evangelist is a Catholic church in the elegant and historic city of Bath.

It is situated in South Parade, beside the River Avon and close to the city centre.

The architect was Charles Francis Hansom, brother of the better known Joseph Aloysius Hansom.

It was opened in 1863, and a Gothic spire, rising to 222 feet, was added in 1867.

The church was bombed in 1942, killing four people and destroying the South aisle, which was subsequently rebuilt.
