Wye Bridge (Bakewell)

The Wye Bridge in the attractive old town of Bakewell in Derbyshire is a particularly ancient one.

The bridge crosses the lovely River Wye, which is a tributary of the River Derwent. It can be found at the bottom of Bridge Street.

This sturdy stone bridge dates from the 13th century, and is one of the oldest in England. Its strength is proved by the fact that it still carries the main road from Chesterfield.

From the bridge, the Riverside Walk leads to the modern Agrigultural Business Centre and coach park.
