Incline Keeper`s Cottage (Bagworth)

The Incline Keeper`s Cottage is the oldest railway building in the Midlands.

Situated at Bagworth in Leicestershire, it was associated with the Bagworth Incline on the very early Leicester to Swannington Railway. Stationary engines would be used to pull the locomotives up the incline.

The cottage can be found in Park Lane.

This old railway, still used for freight, was to be reopened for passenger traffic in 1997. It would certainly be a boon, especially with the tourist attractions of the National Forest in the area, but in 2009 still nothing has happened.
