Aberystwyth Castle (Aberystwyth)

Aberystwyth Castle is an interesting ruin at Aberystwyth on the Welsh coast.

It is situated near St. Michael`s Church, on a headland dividing the beach in two.

The castle was built in the 13th century by Edmund Crouchback, the brother of Edward I, to a concentric plan.

It was captured by Owain Glyndwr in 1404, but was recaptured by Prince Henry (the future Henry V) in 1408.

During the Civil War Aberystwyth Castle was held by the Royalists, but was captured by the Parliamentary forces in 1646.

It now stands in a small park.
