Mercat Cross (Aberdeen)

The Mercat Cross is one of the most historic structures in the City of Aberdeen.

Standing in the middle of Castle Street, it was the focus of commercial activity in the city.

It was built in 1686, and is a particularly notable example with its unicorn and hexagonal base, with panels featuring medallion heads of Scottish Kings from James I to James VII (James II of England).
