Tiptree

Tiptree is a large village in Essex, 9 miles from Colchester.

A collection of small villages and hamlets until the 19th century, it coalesced into its present form with the foundation of Wilkin`s Tiptree Preserves in 1885.

Arthur C. Wilkin was a local farmer who capitalised on the local fields full of fruit to start the business, the most prestigious jam makers in Britain.

The factory shop is open to the public, along with a museum and tea shop specialising in the delicious company products.

Tiptree House is 15th century and stands on the site of a priory.

Blue Badge Guide Colin Crosby is available to lead Guided Walks around Tiptree for groups.
