Tenterden

Tenterden is an attractive town in the Weald of Kent, 10 miles from Ashford.

The parish church was founded in 1180, and has a magnificent 15th century Perpendicular West tower, rising to 125 feet. It has rare twin West doors.

The High Street is very broad, long and partly grass verged, and contains both timber framed houses and elegant 18th century buildings.

The preserved Kent and East Sussex Railway runs from here to Bodiam.

William Caxton (printer) and David Frost (broadcaster) wre born at Tenterden.
