Stokesay

Stokesay is a hamlet in Shropshire, 1 mile from Craven Arms.

Stokesay Castle is a 13th century fortified manor house, the oldest surviving one in England, with an impressive stone great hall and a splendid 15th century timber framed gatehouse. It is now in the hands of English Heritage.

Stokesay church, with its Norman doorway, was badly damaged during the Civil War, and largely rebuilt.
