Staunton Harold

Staunton Harold is a picturesque site in North West Leicestershire, 3 miles from Ashby-de-la-Zouch.

Holy Trinity Church is unusual in that it was built during the Commonwealth, in 1653. It was founded by Robert Shirley as an act of defiance.

Staunton Harold Hall dates from the 17th century, and is partly the work of Inigo Jones.

Laurence, Earl Ferrers, of Staunton Harold, was executed at Tyburn, having murdered his steward in cold blood, after that unfortunate man had criticised the Earl for his appalling treatment of his young wife.

Nearby are a garden centre, craft centre and tea shops.
