Hemington

Hemington is a small village in North West Leicestershire, 2 miles from Castle Donington.

It is now part of the parish centred on the neighbouring village of Lockington.

The former parish church, close to Hemington Hall, is first mentioned in 1220, but gradually fell out of use and was deconsecrated in 1590. It is now a picturesque ivy-covered ruin.

There are Civil War trenches on slopes above the village, and there was a Roman villa in the area.
