Helpston

Helpston is a village in Cambridgeshire, roughly midway between Stamford and Peterborough.

Being in the ancient district known as the Soke of Peterborough, it was until local government reorganisation in Northamptonshire.

Helspston's major claim to fame is that it was the birthplace in 1793 of John Clare, known as "The Peasant Poet" or sometimes "The Northamptonshire Poet".

The John Clare Memorial stands in the main village street, and he is buried in the churchyard.

Blue Badge Guide Colin Crosby is available to lead Guided Walks around Helpston for groups.
