Hartshill

Hartshill is a village in Warwickshire, 3 miles from Nuneaton.

Hartshill Castle was originally built in the 13th century, and some ruins can be seen near the village centre.

Hartshill Hayes Country Park covers 137 acres of woodland and open hilltop overlooking the Anker Valley. Local tradition maintains that Boudicca`s defeat by the Romans took place here.

On the village green is a monument to the poet Michael Drayton, who was born at Hartshill in 1563. He was buried at Westminster Abbey.
