Hamilton
Hamilton is a new estate on the edge of Leicester, started in the early 1990s.
However, it is named after a deserted mediaeval village, also named Hamilton, which was situated nearby.
The estate is extensive, taking up a large area to the North East of Leicester, being to some extent an extension of Humberstone.
Remains of the deserted mediaeval village, consisting of holloways and house platforms, can be clearly seen from the lane which runs between Barkby to the North and Humberstone and Scraptoft to the South.
