Godmanchester

Godmanchester is a small town in Cambridgeshire (formerly Huntingdonshire), across the River Great Ouse from Huntingdon, with a charter dated 1214.

St. Mary`s church dates from the 13th century.

The town was important in the Roman period, as it stood at the junction of three roads, including Ermine Street and the Via Devana, as well as the river.

A lacy white bridge ("Chinese Bridge") built in 1827 leads to the ancient meadow of Portholme.

There are many attractive houses in the town.
