Colin Crosby Heritage Tours

Cromford

Cromford is a small town in Derbyshire, 2 miles from Wirksworth and beside the lovely River Derwent.

There is a mediaeval bridge with the remains of a chapel.

Cromford Mill, Richard Arkwright's first successful cotton spinning mill, opened in 1771. It is now open to the public as a very successful tourist attraction, and is part of a World Heritage Site.

Willersley Castle was built by Arkwright as his home. It is now a Methodist holiday centre.

The Market Place contains model housing for Arkwright's workers.

St. Mary's Church is where Arkwright himself is buried.

Blue Badge Guide Colin Crosby is available to lead Guided Walks around Cromford for groups.
