Bude

Bude is a popular seaside resort on the North Cornwall coast, at the mouth of the River Neet and 15 miles from Launceston.

It is particularly popular with surfers, and the first Surf Life Saving Club was formed here.

It developed as a port when the Bude Canal to Launceston was built in the 1820s. The sea lock and a short stretch of canal survive.

The railway, now closed, took over the canal`s business and transformed the town into a seaside resort.

Bude Castle was built in 1850, and now houses the council offices.

Along the coast there is spectacular scenery.
