Brigg

Brigg is a small market town in Lincolnshire, 7 miles from Scunthorpe.

The town grew up around a crossing of the River Ancholme, and was originally known as Glanford Brigg.

The charter was granted by Henry III in 1235, and the famous horse fair is still held there.

Frederick Delius wrote the tone poem "Brigg Fair" in 1907. He had been introduced to local folk songs by Percy Grainger.

An ancient boat was discovered beside the river.

Blue Badge Guide Colin Crosby is available to lead Guided Walks around Brigg for groups.
