Ashford

Ashford is market town in Kent, 19 miles from Maidstone, where the River Great Stour is joined by the River East Stour.

St. Mary the Virgin Church is impressively large, with a massive Perpendicular tower.

In the 19th century, Ashford became an important centre for building steam locomotives.

In the 20th century the town grew, with much industry and offices.

It also has a station on the High Speed railway line from London.

The actress Patsy Byne, England cricketer Mark Ealham, writer Frederick Forsyth and conductor Malcolm Sargent were born at Ashford.

Blue Badge Guide Colin Crosby is available to lead Guided Walks around Ashford for groups.
