Northamptonshire Borders Tour (A Coach Trip in Northamptonshire)

[An image showing Northamptonshire Borders Tour]"Northamptonshire Borders Tour" is one of the Coach Trips devised and led by Blue Badge Guide Colin Crosby, of Colin Crosby Heritage Tours, who runs trips throughout the year.

These excursions are a most enjoyable way of soaking up some Local History.

It is one of the morning trips, which are much appreciated by people who would rather not be out be out all day.

The coach departs from St. Margarets Bus Station, in Leicester City Centre, at 9.30am, and returns about 2pm.

The format for these trips is that one stays on the coach for most of the journey, while Colin gives his inimitable commentary, but about halfway round, usually about 11.30am, a stop is made at a place of interest where one can buy tea, coffee, cakes etc.

This particular trip concentrates on the border country between Leicestershire and Northamptonshire.

Some of the towns and villages in the area, which might well be included on the tour, are Market Harborough, Rothwell, Geddington, Oundle and Fotheringhay, and there are interesting structures such as Rushton Triangular Lodge and one of the surviving Eleanor Crosses.

The River Welland flows through the area, which also includes the famous Rockingham Forest.
