A Breath of Fresh Air (A Guided Walk in Leicester)

“A Breath of Fresh Air” is a Guided Walk in Leicester devised and led by Blue Badge Guide Colin Crosby, of Colin Crosby Heritage Tours.

These walks are an enjoyable way of learning some Local History.

It is timed to take place just after the height of Christmas, when many people tend to over-indulge and over-consume. A light walk blows away the cobwebs nicely and gives that bit of exercise that many find really necessary after all that.

The walk starts outside Belgrave Hall, the 18th century mansion that is now run by Leicester City Council as a museum, and is internationally famous as a haunted house. Belgrave Hall is situated in Church Road, off Thurcaston Road, which is itself off Loughborough Road.

Colin leads the party on a gentle stroll around the Belgrave area, staying close to the River Soar. On the way he will be pointing out such places as St. Peters Church, Belgrave, Belgrave House, Abbey Pumping Station, a lock and an ancient bridge.

Also along the way there will be a chance to admire the stunning architecture of the National Space Centre, opened in 2001 as one of Britain’s Millennium projects.

Other walks led by Colin in the Belgrave area include “Old Belgrave”, “Waterside Belgrave” and “Haunted Belgrave”.
