Salvation Army Band Lights Up the Winter

My wife Anne and I went to an enjoyable concert recently by a Salvation Army band.

It took place at St. Albans Church in Belgrave, which is part of the Leicester Parish of the Resurrection. This is an Edwardian church, built a little over a hundred years ago.

The concert was by the Leicester South Salvation Army Band.

Salvation Army bands are always good value, and are particularly seen and heard, and greatly enjoyed, in busy shopping centres during Advent.

The first half of the programme consisted of general pieces of music, including a work by Karl Jenkins, and the second half had a more Christmas feel to it.

Churches, as well as their proper function, are excellent places for performances, and long may they continue to be used as such.
