Familiarisation Visit to Doncaster

I recently had a very interesting day on a familiarisation visit to Doncaster, organised by the Borough Council.

We met at the Mansion House, and were given a tour of this splendid civic building, and walked around to the market, which is in fact several markets in one, both indoors and outdoors.

We then went to Markham, where in a building beside the garden centre is a fascinating collection of steam machinery.

From there we went to Brodsworth Hall, and had an interesting out of hours tour of the house, and then to Cusworth Hall for lunch.

The final visit of the day was to historic Conisbrough Castle, which now boasts a visitor centre and excellent interpretation filmlets projected onto the walls.

It was a good and interesting day.
